APPLY FOR A SOLO PARENT ID

Solo parents receive benefits such as discounts on essential goods, flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave, and priority access to housing, education, and livelihood programs. They may also get financial aid, medical support, and counseling to help manage the challenges of raising a child alone.

BENEFITS

  • Flexible Work Schedule
    • Employers are encouraged to give solo parents flexible work arrangements to help them manage parenting duties.
  • Parental Leave
    • Solo parents get 7 days of parental leave per year (not convertible to cash and not cumulative).
  • Educational Assistance
    • Children of solo parents may receive scholarships or educational support.
  • Price Reductions
    • Under RA 11861, solo parents can get discounts on items from drugstores, pharmacies, groceries, and similar stores.
  • Cash Subsidy
    • Eligible solo parents earning minimum wage will receive a ₱1,000 monthly cash subsidy.

CHECK IF YOU'RE ELLIGIBLE

You may apply for a Solo Parent ID if you are:

A woman who gave birth due to rape or similar crimes and chooses to raise the child.

A parent left alone to raise the child because of:

    • Death of spouse
    • Detention or imprisonment of spouse for more than 1 year
    • Physical/mental incapacity of spouse (with medical certification from a public doctor)
    • Legal or de facto separation for at least 1 year, with child custody
    • Annulment or nullity of marriage, with child custody

An unmarried mother/father who chooses to raise the child.

Any person solely providing parental care and support to a child/children.

PREPARE ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

 

PROOF OF STATUS AS A SINGLE PARENT

  • PSA Death Certificate (if spouse is deceased)
  • Jail Records/Certificate of Detention (if spouse is imprisoned)
  • Medical Certificate from a public doctor (if spouse is incapacitated)
  • Legal documents for separation, annulment, or nullity
  • PSA CENOMAR

PROOF OF INCOME

  • ITR or any document showing income
  • Certificate of Indigency (if applicable)

PROOF OF RESIDENCY

  • Barangay Certificate or any government ID with address

PROOF OF CUSTODY

  • PSA Birth Certificate of child/children

OTHER SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (IF REQUIRED BY DSWD)

  • Medical certificate of solo parent and/or child with special needs
  • Certificate of employment
 
 

HOW TO APPLY

  • Visit your nearest DSWD office or check your LGU’s website for the application form. Some LGUs accept online applications.
  • Fill out the form and attach all required documents. Bring originals and photocopies.
  • Submit your application and ask about the processing time.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • The Solo Parent ID is valid for 1 year and must be renewed at the DSWD.
  • It is a valid government-issued ID for public and private transactions.
  • The ID may be revoked if the solo parent marries or remarries.
  • Benefits end if the children are given up for adoption.
  • Parental leave applies only if the employee has at least 1 year of service.
